Enterprise Browser Alternative
Evaluating an enterprise browser or a secure browser? Blue Border secures both locally-installed and desktop apps without replacing your current browser.
Trusted by 700+ security- and compliance-driven organizations, including Fidelity, Guardian, StoneX, Whatnot, and the IMF.
The browser isn’t the whole workspace. Security should extend beyond the browser.
Enterprise browsers earned their place by securing the shift to SaaS. As work moved into web apps on any device, a hardened, managed browser let IT apply policy and DLP to that browser-based work — a real answer for a real problem. For work that lives in a browser tab, an enterprise browser does its job.
But the workday isn’t only a browser — far from it. Employees still spend hours in desktop and thick-client applications: video, VoIP, contact center tools, the Office desktop suite, developer tools, native CRM and ERP clients, design apps, Teams and Zoom desktop clients — plus local files. An enterprise browser doesn’t see or secure any of that. The moment work leaves the browser, the coverage ends.
What most teams actually want is one consistent security boundary for the entire workspace, spanning all apps — without forcing everyone to route their day through a separate browser. An enterprise browser gives you a partial solution. Blue Border secures all applications.
The browser only covers browser work
Web apps opened in the managed browser are protected. Desktop applications, local files, and network activity outside the browser are not.
Real work lives in desktop apps too
Softphones, the Office desktop suite, IDEs, native CRM and ERP clients, PDF and design tools, and meeting apps don’t run in a browser.
A new browser is a new adoption problem
Asking employees to move their whole day into a separate browser creates friction, and apps that won’t run in-browser push people toward workarounds outside any control.
Enterprise Browser vs. Blue Border™ for Securing the Entire Workspace
The difference is scope. An enterprise browser secures what happens in the browser; Blue Border secures everything an employee does for work (browser and desktop) – all inside a company-controlled secure enclave without VDI or fully managing the endpoint.

How Blue Border™ Works
Installing Blue Border on a Mac or PC creates a company-controlled secure enclave directly on the device. Work data, apps, networking, and AI all run locally inside it.
- Network. Work traffic routes through Venn’s built-in VPN gateway or your existing private network.
- Applications. Every app (installed, browser-based or AI) is wrapped by a blue line, creating a virtual firewall and enforcing DLP at the app level.
- Files. Users save only to work-sanctioned file systems inside Venn Disk that are isolated, encrypted and remote wipeable.
Any worker. Any device. Any application. Any AI workflow.

Secure the whole workspace, not just the browser
An enterprise browser draws its boundary around the browser tab. Blue Border draws it around all of an employee’s work — browser and desktop apps, files, networking, and AI.
Employees keep their preferred desktop apps
With Blue Border, there is no need to switch from the desktop version of an app to a browser version. People use their normal browser and the desktop applications they already work in. That removes the adoption friction and the shadow IT workarounds that come with routing a whole day through a separate, new browser.

One DLP boundary across every app
DLP and AI governance apply to all work in the enclave, not just browser tabs. Copy/paste, download, upload, screenshot, print, and AI are controlled consistently across web and desktop apps, and IT allows company-sanctioned AI tools only — so the policy doesn’t change depending on where the work happens to open.
The same coverage on any device without managing it
Blue Border delivers a full secure workspace on managed, unmanaged, and BYOD devices without owning or fully managing them, and without VDI. Everything outside the enclave stays private to the user, so you extend complete coverage to contractors and personal machines the same way you would a browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
An enterprise browser secures work that happens inside the browser. Blue Border secures everything an employee does for work on a device — browser and desktop apps, files, networking, and AI — inside a company-controlled secure enclave on any device. The difference is scope: the browser protects browser-based work, while Blue Border protects everything. This is why Blue Border is used as an enterprise browser alternative when work isn’t browser-only. Blue Border can provide support for popular browsers like Google Chrome as well.
That is exactly the gap Blue Border closes. Softphones, the Office desktop suite, IDEs, native CRM and ERP clients, PDF and design tools, and meeting apps run locally inside the enclave and are secured there — with the same isolation, DLP, and AI governance as web apps. Nothing falls out of scope just because it isn’t a browser tab.
No. Employees keep their normal browser (ie Chrome) and the desktop applications they already use. Work apps run inside the enclave and are marked by a blue line; everything else on the device stays personal. There is no separate browser to adopt and no app that won’t run, which removes the friction and workarounds that come with a browser-only approach. Users can run Chrome inside and outside the secure enclave simultaneously – work and private on one device.
Yes. DLP — copy/paste, download, upload, screenshot, print, and AI — and AI governance apply across every app inside the enclave, web or desktop. IT allows company-sanctioned AI tools only and blocks the rest, so the controls are consistent regardless of which application the work opens in.
If an organization’s work is genuinely all browser-based, an enterprise browser can cover it. Most teams aren’t there — in fact only around 4% of companies are entirely working in a browser. The majority still rely on desktop apps, local files, and native clients that live outside the browser. When that’s the case, a secure enclave covers the full workday instead of only the part that happens in a tab.
Yes, and it covers more of the device. Like an enterprise browser, Blue Border runs on unmanaged and BYOD machines without owning them — but instead of securing only browser activity, it delivers a full secure workspace for all work, while personal use outside the enclave stays private.

Secure the whole workspace — not just the browser.
Blue Border is the secure workspace for remote employees and contractors on any device — without VDI or fully managing the endpoint. Where an enterprise browser secures browser-based work, Blue Border secures everything an employee does: browser and desktop apps, files, networking, and AI.
