Our Product Manager, Chris Johnson, recently sat down with us to discuss why there is so much skepticism around BYOD security, and how companies _can,_ in fact, protect company data on unmanaged laptops.

Traditional solutions often involve giving IT full control over the device, which can be a non-starter for BYOD policies, as employees are reluctant to allow IT to monitor their personal activities. Additionally, these solutions often fail to sufficiently reduce the attack surface, requiring additional layers of security.

Venn’s Blue Border™ addresses these issues by creating a [Secure Enclave](https://www.venn.com/blog/what-is-a-secure-enclave/) on the personal device. This isolates work activities from personal use, ensuring that work-related applications, like Chrome, are completely separated from personal activities. This provides the necessary security and control over the work environment while respecting user privacy.
