The MDM Security Revolution…for Laptops

We recently spoke with our Product Manager, Chris Johnson, about how an MDM-like approach is being reimagined to revolutionize BYOD laptop security. Check it out:

Before Mobile Device Management (MDM) was introduced, employees had to juggle two separate devices—one for personal use and another provided by their company, which was tightly controlled by IT. This setup created inconvenience not only for users but also for businesses, as they had to procure extra devices and employees had to learn to navigate a device they were unfamiliar with. MDM revolutionized this experience for phones by enabling IT to manage work-related data and applications on personal devices, eliminating the need for separate devices while maintaining security and control.

Building on the success of MDM for phones, this concept was extended to laptops with Venn’s Blue Border technology. Instead of granting IT full control over the entire device, Venn’s Secure Enclave allows for the management of only a specific, company-controlled portion of the unmanaged machine. This avoids the need for virtualization or a separate operating system, letting employees use devices they are comfortable with while giving IT the necessary oversight for work-related tasks. This evolution is streamlining the user experience for laptops, making work feel seamless without compromising security or end-user privacy.

What the Stryker Attack Reveals About BYOD Security
The cyberattack disclosed by Stryker on March 11, 2026 is a reminder that some of the most significant endpoint risks do not begin with malware executing on the device itself. Sometimes, the greater risk sits in the control layer above it. Stryker said it experienced a global network disruption in its Microsoft environment as a […]

Addressing Contractor Security: A $200K Laptop Spend or Blue Border™
Contractor Security Doesn’t Have to Strain the Bottom Line Contractors and offshore teams are how modern companies scale. You hire fast, staff globally, and keep momentum without expanding headcount and overhead. But there’s a tradeoff most teams quietly accept: contractors often work on personal laptops that the business doesn’t own or manage. For a while, […]
