Securing Contractors on Unmanaged Laptops

Ronnie Shvueli

We recently spoke with our Chief Product Officer, Dvir Shapira, about the key considerations companies should take into account when deciding how to secure their contractors working on unmanaged laptops. Watch this video to hear his take.

When evaluating solutions to support contractors working on personal/unmanaged laptops, especially remote or offshore, companies should consider cost, security and compliance, and user experience. Cost is a primary factor, particularly for remote contractors in locations without physical offices, where shipping computers or setting up infrastructure can become costly. Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) often incurs substantial expenses for setup, management, and ongoing maintenance, with resources devoted to maintaining these environments instead of strategic projects.

User experience also plays a critical role. Many companies report dissatisfaction with VDI due to frequent issues like latency and connectivity problems, which hamper productivity and impact contractor morale. This user experience can significantly affect how contractors perceive and perform their work, ultimately influencing the company’s overall efficiency and satisfaction among remote workers.
