Integrate Google Chrome with Venn

Overview

Google Chrome is the world’s most widely used web browser and the default way most remote employees and contractors reach their work. It’s built on the open-source Chromium engine. Chrome is the front door to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and the browser-based AI tools, like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, that now sit at the center of daily workflows. It offers fast performance, a broad extension ecosystem, and enterprise policy management for IT teams that control the browser.

On personal and unmanaged devices, though, the same Chrome install that runs company SaaS also runs personal email, personal cloud storage, and unsanctioned AI accounts. Without managing the device, IT has no reliable way to stop company data from being saved to the local disk, pasted into a personal Gmail draft, or uploaded to an unapproved site. Locking down the entire browser or endpoint to close that gap is a non-starter for BYOD users and contractors.

Why it’s helpful to run it in Blue Border™

Blue Border lets users run Google Chrome for work inside a company-controlled secure enclave, right alongside their personal Chrome on the same PC or Mac. Work browsing runs under corporate security controls. Personal browsing stays private and is never tracked or visible to the company.

Inside Blue Border, IT can:

Keep data inside the enclave. DLP controls block copy/paste and file transfers from Chrome to apps and windows outside Blue Border.
Enforce local save policies. Downloads and saved files stay inside the secure enclave, never on the personal side of the device.
Filter web access by category. IT can block non-sanctioned website categories, including personal web-based email, so company data can’t be forwarded out through a personal inbox.
Block unauthorized uploads. IT can stop work data from being uploaded to unapproved cloud apps and storage.
Govern browser-based AI. Company data can be restricted to approved AI tools, keeping it away from personal or unsanctioned AI accounts.
Zero change management from an enterprise browser switch. Allow users to use the browser they already want without forcing change into an unfamiliar browser.

Chrome stays the browser your workforce already knows, with no enterprise browser rollout, no VDI, and no full endpoint management. Unlike browser-only controls, the same policies extend to the installed desktop apps running in Blue Border. What happens in Blue Border stays in Blue Border.
