Available as a browser-based experience at perplexity.ai and as a native desktop application for Windows via the Microsoft Store, Perplexity has expanded well beyond search: its Deep Research mode uses multi-step reasoning across hundreds of sources to synthesize complex topics and produce deliverables — including presentations and reports — in a single workflow.
Comet, Perplexity’s AI-native browser available for macOS and Windows, embeds Comet Assistant for in-page research, summarization, and autonomous multi-step tasks including booking, email management, and web-based form completion. Perplexity Computer, its agentic research platform, orchestrates tasks across frontier AI models, accesses premium data sources including PitchBook, CB Insights, and Statista, and supports Voice Mode for hands-free task management. Model Council, a recent addition, allows Computer to run the same research question through multiple frontier models simultaneously and compare their reasoning — giving analysts and knowledge workers a uniquely powerful research environment that also introduces new vectors for sensitive data exposure.

Claude, developed by Anthropic, is available as a native desktop application for Windows and macOS, as a browser-based experience at claude.ai, and through two specialized professional tools: Claude Code — an agentic coding assistant that operates in the terminal and integrates with IDEs including VS Code and JetBrains — and Claude Cowork, a persistent agentic workspace that can read, edit, organize, and create files within a user-designated folder, execute multi-step tasks in parallel, and work through a growing library of plugins across legal, sales, marketing, and data analysis workflows.
